Desktop Client Ver. 2
complete
Edward Aguiar
We are looking for a complete overhaul of Desktop Client to be completed in Q1/Q2 and are looking for feedback. What would you like to see changed or improved. Top three functionalities that we are looking to include are -
- Ability to login/log out of the desktop client.
- Monitor 1920x1080 min resolution.
- UI/UX changes
There are a number of smaller changes we are looking to implement as well.
What would you like to see?

I will post this here instead of a separate comment, but need to break out ability to limit removing boxes from adding boxes. Example, I do not want anyone removing boxes that populate from our WMS, but I want them to add boxes when needed in techShip. Currently the field that exists today restricts both add/remove.
Alternatively, if box has a WMS# do not allow deletion. When Ops deletes a box associated with a WMS# and re-adds a box, it does not write back to our WMS (Synapse) properly and causes a lot of headaches to "fix".
Also I see this was set for June 2023. Is there a new ETA on Desktop App 2.0?

On the desktop client, it would be nice if we could have an input field on the screen for 3rd party shipments, which we do a lot of, but we don't get the information from the WMS
It would also be nice to have a checkbox for 'signature required' since we use that frequently and have to move to the web client to do it. Again, we don't get that information from the WMS

We have started the UI design process. I would appreciate your feedback. We will have two different views (1) is the view with the cartons at the bottom - similar to what we have today, this view will show a balance of all data elements. (2) still in design and not posted here, will focus on showing the maximum number of cartons but will sacrifice some other elements.

Edward Aguiar: The aesthetics are great. For our operation, the order-level data is not critical at the processing stage. I would prioritize keeping entry fields (e.g. box dims, weights, add-on services) near the top. Push order data to the bottom because it will not need to be accessed consistently.
Otherwise no immediate feedback on the look. "Process & Print" may be too close to "Clear Form" but that's minor. Will there be any hot keys for repetitive actions (e.g. scale, process & print)?
Look forward to trying it out. Thanks.

Jon Rothman: Thank you for the feedback. We are looking to create an alternative view for customers with a process similar to yours, focusing on the containers/boxes.
We have yet to create a design for it, but it will look something close to the attached image. Does this looks close to what you expected?

Edward Aguiar: Yes, that is what I had in mind. Thanks Edward.

Edward Aguiar: The UI looks good. I don't have any further comments at the moment. However, it would be helpful if there was an option to "Delete a batch". Currently, we still have to go to the web portal to delete an order if it was imported incorrectly or unintentionally. This feature would also be beneficial for testing purposes.

User restriction feature where the admin can choose to grant read only or read/write access to the users to make changes to the preview window with Ship-to info. Ex: Restrict users to have read only access so they are not able to edit Ship-to address when processing an order.

A "View Packaging" option will be really useful. This is currently available in Web portal. This can our packers view how to the SKU items will fit in a packaging box.

Other features customers asked to be considered -
- View shipping cost after label creation
- Ability to void
- Ability to modify service, add carrier options/declared value
- Duplicate button for additional parcels
- No limitation on number for parcels per shipment
- Ability to create a new shipment
- Improvements to UI for inputting weight/dimensions manually
- Editing pre-populated dims requires mouse-clicking into every field and highlighting the pre-existing text before replacing it. Clicking into a field, or tabbing through fields, should auto-highlight the text so it can be replaced.
When you add a new box, the cursor should auto-select the Length field so the operator can input dims.
- Tabbing through the fields on one box should bring you to the next box's dim/weight field. Instead, it tabs out to the desktop window screen.
