General enabled tracing for all clients within the techSHIP portal.

Today we are not enabling trace by default since it would have a performance hit on order processing, even thought the impact is not major.
Could you please share reason for using trace on a permanent basis? Is this for the purpose of debugging the configuration for a perioud of time? If this is the case would allowing to enable trace at the client level and then disconnect say after a week or two will address the need?
