USPS Cubic vs Weight Based pricing marked up and returned to WMS.

USPS offers bother weight based pricing and cubic based pricing. Cubic pricing works by multiplying the length, width, and height then dividing that number by 1728 which is 1 cubic feet. Weight and cubic have 2 separate pricing grids. When an order comes through, if cubic pricing wins, we want to make sure a cubic label is printed for the shipment to ensure we are billed correctly by USPS for the package, but we want the weight based pricing returned and marked up, then returned to our WMS. Weight based pricing should always be returned to the customer, whether or not cubic pricing would win or not. This is what we need to be able to do.

Hello AP,
This is an interesting challenge.
You want to rate shop but return a higher rate to the WMS although cubic pricing provides the lower cost.
And you want a markup to the higher cost offered.
For driving margin, I think I understand your goal.
Is this only a USPS issue or would this action apply to other carriers?
To have general understanding:
Do you have a separate USPS account/MID that only provides cubic rates/pricing?
Roughly, what percent of orders will qualify for cubic rates?
Do your cubic rates apply to every USPS service?
If cubic dimensions allow for cubic rates are there any weight limitations in the pricing structure?
Thank you,
